How the Eliteserien works
The format
16 clubs play a home-and-away round-robin over 30 games from March to November; the club that finishes top of the table is the champion of Norway.
European places
The champion qualifies for the Champions League, 2nd for the Europa League and 3rd for the Conference League — some of Europe’s richest prizes.
Relegation
The clubs at the foot of the final table drop to the second tier, replaced by the teams coming up. Every point matters.
