How the seeding works

Seeds 1–4 — Division winners

The four division champions take seeds 1–4 by record — they HOST their playoff games. The #1 seed also byes the Wild Card round entirely.

Seeds 5–7 — Wild cards

The three best teams that didn't win their division. They make it — but they travel for every game.

Seeds 8–16 — Out

Missed the cut. No January football — on to the offseason and the Draft.
